Product Compliance

This product complies with the essential requirements of the following EC Directives:

  • Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2004/108/EC

  • Low Voltage Directive 2006/95/EEC

  • EC Marking Directive 93/68/EEC

  • EC Directive 2012/19/EU on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)

  • RoHS 2 Directive 2011/65/EC

  • Building Regulations Directive BS EN 13964 (for suspended ceiling models)

  • Commission Regulation (EU) 2015/1188 Lot 20 and complies with Article 1 Section (g) by definition under Article 2 Section (16) applies only to indoor space heating to reach and maintain a certain thermal comfort for human beings

General Description

The Infrared Radiant Panel (IHP) is a lightweight, high-performance radiant heater designed to provide comfort by warming objects and people just like the sun does (but with no UV rays) without having to warm the air.

These panels are ideal for both spot heating in high heat loss areas or as a full central heating system. Panels may be installed side by side or individually in areas requiring additional heat.  The IHP has been designed for use in suspended ceilings as a replacement for a standard ceiling tile or attached to a ceiling or wall using brackets.

Key features of the panel include:

  • A highly thermally conductive aluminium emitting plate with a high emissivity polymer coating to ensure maximum radiant efficiency.

  • Multi-stage insulation to minimise rear panel energy losses

  • A unique lightweight, coating frame design that allows effortless installation into a suspended ceiling frame but also looks great when fixed to a wall or ceiling

  • A safety over-temperature trip to protect the panel from overheating if accidentally covered

  • A British Standard three metre of ex which must be wired into an external thermostatic and timed control system

Sizing Recommendations

Power requirements need to consider both the total heat load and warm up times.

For an insulated, domestic installation where heating is on continuously, 50 watts per square metre is recommended. Additional wattage maybe required when heating is used intermittently or when fast warm-ups times are required.

    Installation

    • Infrared Heater Panels maybe axed directly to ceilings and walls using the brackets on the back of the panel. Brackets slide over mounting screws.

    • Additionally, the IHP160a and IHP320a can be mounted in corners or cornices at 45-degree angle using the brackets on the side of the panel. A template is supplied to facilitate the positioning of the mounting

    • The larger panels, IHP320Sc and IHP640c can also be incorporated into a standard 600 x 600mm suspended ceiling frame in which case the ceiling manufacturer's guidelines must be adhered to at all times. A safety fixing point is provided on the rear of the panel so the installer can affix the product to the building structure above in accordance with BS EN 13964 if required.

    • The IHP range of infrared heater panels is a component part of a designed heating system. To comply with Commission Regulation (EU) 2015/1188 Lot 20, this product must be installed and controlled by an external timed thermostat control system. The supplied product flex must be wired to this control system in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions to achieve the minimum ecodesign requirement.

    • Considerations should be given to the addition of open window sensing, occupancy sensing and out of building heating control systems such as a mobile phone application or other devices to further increase energy savings. There are many sophisticated control systems available. Please contact us for assistance if required.

      Panel Mounting Instructions

For Both Wall and Ceiling Panels - IHP320S, 480, 640 Models

IHP's heating panels can be mounted on either on walls or ceilings using a low profile, TV-style mounting bracket.  The bracket provides a strong, secure mount which is also very easy to install.

Step 1 - Contents, Remove the Mounting Bracket

The heating panel is supplied with the ceiling / wall mounting bracket attached to the back of the panel together with mounting screws and plugs and a spirit level.  To remove the bracket loosen the long locking screws then lift the bracket.  Note how the bracket clips into place.

Step 2 - Marking Drills Holes

Using the mounting bracket as a template, mark 4 drill holes for the mounting plugs.  For a ceiling mount, ensure that the template is parallel to the walls ie the drill holes are the same distance to the wall. For wall mounting, spirit level can be used to ensure the panel is level.

Step 3 - Drill the Holes, Insert the Plugs

Using the mounting bracket as a template, mark 4 drill holes for the mounting plugs.  For a ceiling mount, ensure that the template is parallel to the walls ie the drill holes are the same distance to the wall. For wall mounting, spirit level can be used to ensure the panel is level. Once the holes are drilled, insert drill plugs.  Depending on the type of ceiling, the purchase of longer mounting screws may be required.
